Plotting

Sometimes plotting is easy, and sometimes it irritates me to no one because I know the story is there, I know it needs to be written, but something is evading me, and I can't figure the 'why' of the story. I remember now why I had stopped working on Nighthunter's Bite. Gutsy character with enough spunk to challenge her goddess, and a nice confrontation scene between the two. But why is there this confrontation? And what the hell does it have to do with the moon bracelet I'm fixated on? Time for some celtic research, maybe something there will coax some answers out of my muse, not that I know where SHE went to. Probably took a nap after all the editing I've been doing . . .

So I'm unclear about how you can have a confrontation and not know why it's taking place. I mean, neither one of them mentions the bone of contention?

Hugs.

Good luck figuring out where the moon bracelet fits in.

The confrontation was not complete. Imagine Darth Vader battling Luke Skywalker in Bespin, wind blowing cape, Luke backing up to the railing, hand goes flying and Darth says, "Obi Wan never told you what happened to . . ." And then it stops. Ok, something BIG is missing, but it was still a confrontation, and it was building up to something important.

My confrontation is a power play between my two characters, and the buildup is there, and a challenge is there, but the meat of the story, the real reason this girl has been selected is what was missing.

Excellent analogy!
I hate it when my characters don't know why they're in conflict (though my conflicts are probably quite a bit more naked than yours). ;)
